SM Intern was founded to solve a problem I saw firsthand โ students hungry for real experience, and small businesses that needed motivated talent but couldn't access big graduate schemes.
I'm an engineering student at the University of Exeter. While studying, I noticed a gap โ local small businesses were struggling to find short-term project help, and students were stuck applying to the same saturated grad schemes.
SM Intern is my answer to that. A platform that connects verified, growth-focused SMEs with students who want real projects, not coffee runs.
The focus is on meaningful work: clear deliverables, proper onboarding, and outcomes that genuinely matter to both sides.
To make internship matching frictionless โ giving students access to real work and businesses access to motivated, project-ready talent.
Every business is verified before their position goes live. Students never pay a penny. Simple, transparent, trusted.
Founded at the University of Exeter, SM Intern is built by a student, for students โ with the needs of real UK businesses at its core.
Whether you're a student looking for your first real project or a business ready to hire, we'd love to hear from you.
